New year new who??

Updated: Jan 10, 2019

Happy New Year to you all.

How many of us now hear "new year new me", "what's your new years resolutions?" and "this is the start of a brand new you"..... it's really common at this time of year to reflect on the last 12 months and where we want to go for the year ahead. However, how much pressure do we put on ourselves to change?

Maybe you like the current person you are but are just feeling a bit lost? We can all feel a bit stuck sometimes and think the grass is greener, but is it really? January can always feel like a low period in the year with the post Christmas lull and maybe more stretched finances but you can ensure you look after yourself.

Make sure you do things you enjoy! Seeing people you love with a glass of wine (or cup of tea if you prefer) and talking doesn't need to cost the earth but can also make you feel more connected.

Doing exercise, despite the cold weather, can help feel more energised and motivated to get through the next few weeks.

Don't set yourself targets or resolutions that could derail you or set you up for failure and more importantly learn to accept yourself for who you are, warts and all!

One of the hardest lessons we can learn about ourselves is that we're not perfect and we never will be, perfection doesn't exist. Honestly it really doesn't. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to improve ourselves but are we ever fully contented with who we are? Life, relationships and our careers will need constant work so it's really OK to say I am struggling sometimes whilst accepting ourselves for who we are.

So let's make 2019 the year for self-maintenance rather than change as you've already come this far and actually you probably like who you are, or at least parts of you. If you feel I could help support you further then please don't hesitate to email or call me to discuss booking in a session.
